play development program
our play development program encourages writers to share their scripts in their formative stages. we read them, discuss them and give them a chance to rewrite before putting it in front of an audience
reading
we invited a group of actors through our mailing list to join us for an evening of play-reading. we gathered together along with the playwright and read through the script. after the play-reading finished, we then began a discussion about what elements we liked and what could be altered. we asked the playwright questions about their process and gave them ideas about where the play could go.
writing
after the initial reading, we sent the playwrights away to redraft using the discussion notes they made from the session. we are now looking forward to reading the redrafts with the aim of selecting the best to be workshopped before putting on a staged-reading to the public.
